The Glencoe Golf Club hosted 120 junior golfers for an IJGA, Illinois Junior Golf Association, 18-hole Individual Stroke Play Event on August 1st. The IJGA is non-profit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for junior golfers ages 8-18, with the mission to educate and promote the game of golf while instilling their motto of: “Better People Through Junior Golf”. There were four divisions that participated: Senior Boys, ages (16-18), Junior Boys, ages (14-15), Senior Girls, ages (16-18), and Junior Girls, ages (14-15). There was a tie for low medalist for the event in the Junior Boys division with Jason Gordon of Northbrook and Tyson Malak of Elgin both shooting 72, even par; Jason won the event through a playoff. The winner of the Senior Girls division was Mary Boesen of Glenview who shot a 82 and the second place finisher was Emilia Schwenk of Highland Park who shot an 85. The Glencoe Golf Club is pleased to help promote junior golf in the area and encourages participation through camps and private lesson to juniors of all ages.
