As an Audubon International member, Glencoe Golf Club is proud to play a vital role in supporting the incredible monarch butterfly migration. Right now, these delicate yet determined creatures in the northern U.S. and southern Canada are preparing for one of nature’s most astounding feats: their long journey south to overwintering sites.

Imagine a journey spanning up to 3,000 miles! Some monarchs will head to the mountain forests of central Mexico, while others from the western population migrate to coastal California. This epic migration requires immense energy, and along the way, monarchs rely heavily on healthy, nectar-rich habitats to fuel their flight.

At the Glencoe Golf Club, we recognize the critical period monarch butterflies are facing. Our commitment to environmental stewardship extends to ensuring the well-being of these vital creatures. Through strategically placed pollinator zones throughout our golf course, we provide essential nectar resources that these magnificent butterflies desperately need during their arduous travels.

Golf courses across North America are uniquely positioned to make a significant difference, and we embrace this responsibility. By transforming out-of-play areas into thriving habitats, we contribute to a healthier ecosystem and ensure that monarchs have the sustenance they need to successfully complete their monumental migration.

The next time you’re enjoying a round at Glencoe, take a moment to appreciate the vibrant activity within our pollinator zones. You might just spot a monarch preparing for its next leg of the journey, thanks to your club’s commitment to conservation!
